Bathukamma is a great festival of Telangana State People and it is celebrated by Women of Telangana State, India.This Bathukamma festival comes in month of September and October of every year as per the Lunar calender in the Bhadrapada Amavasya.
After Telangana State formation, the great Telangana Government prepared to conduct the Bathukamma Boddemma festival officially in the State.On this Bathukamma festival the Telangana government released 20 crore rupees for this great colorful natural flower festival.
Telangana people celebrate this Bathukamma flower festival up to 9 days during the Durga Navratri. Bathukamma festival starts on the day of Bhadrapada Amavasya and the 9th day festivities will culminate on Saddula Bathukamma or Pedda Bathukamma festival on Ashwayuja Ashtami.
This year means after formation of Telangana State, the Telangana State people are celebrating the great Bathukamma festival from 24/09/2014 to 02/10/2014, during this 9 days period, the Telangana are participating and enjoying in this festival.
On this Bathukamma festival occasion, the men, women and children will be collecting the natural flowers from the forest like Celosia, Senna Auriculate, Tagetes, Chrysanthemum, Nelumbo Nucifera, Cucurbita, Cucumis Sativus, Memecylon Edule, Tridax Procumbens, Trachyspermum Ammi, katla, and Teku flowers etc, which bloom in this season in various vibrant colors.
