Ajanta Ellora Caves History


                          Ajanta Ellora Caves World's greatest Historical monument recognized by UNESCO and Ajanta caves situated about 104 km away from Aurangabad city of Maharashtra state, India. The Ellora caves situated about 29 km away from North-West of the City of Aurangabad,
                          The history of Ajanta Ellora is ancient story, built by Rashtrakuta dynasty.The Ajanta Ellora represent the epitome of Indian rock-cut architecture. The Ajanta consist of 30 caves, the Ellora consist of 34 caves. The wonderful history is here.
                           The Ajanta Ellora caves were discovered by a British Captain,John Smith in 1819,on a hunting expedition and Viharas, Mathas were built between the 5th century and 10th century.
                            The Ellora caves have the 12 Buddhist caves, 17 Hindus caves, 5 Jain caves, built in proximity, demonstrate the religious harmony prevalent during this period of Indian history.
