Amarnath Temple Images and Pilgrimage

                        AMARNATH TEMPLE cave is a very famous shrine in Hinduism, located in the Indian held part of Jammu and Kashmir state. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
                        The Amarnath temple cave is situated at an altitude of 3,888m (12,750ft),about 141km (88miles) from Srinagar and the cave is surrounded by snowy mountains. The Amarnath temple is opened for Pilgrims to short time in summer period only.
                        An annual Pilgrimage is made to the Amarnath temple cave by lakhs of Hindu devotees on challenging mountainous terrain to see in ice stalagmite formed inside the cave. Inside the 40m high temple cave ,the stalagmite is formed due to freezing of water drops that fall from the roof of the cave on to the floor and grown up vertically from the cave floor, It is considered to be a Shiva Linga by devout Hindus.
                        The main purpose of the annual Pilgrimage to the Amarnath temple cave is to see the ice stalagmite Lingam. Most of the people are downloading this Amarnath temple images through the internet and the route map images are kept in their hand while they are going to Pilgrimage.
                        While doing a Pilgrimage, in route to the Amarnath temple cave, various non profit organizations set up food supply and resting tents called PANDALS, which are available for free to the Pilgrims.
